·Resumen

Durante los últimos veinte años los estudiosos del lenguaje hemos presenciado un interés creciente hacia la Historiografía de la Lingüística. Sin embargo, a pesar de que son muchas las publicaciones de corte historiográfico, todavía no existe un consenso acerca del objeto de estudio, de la metodología y de los objetivos de este campo de trabajo. La meta principal de este artículo es poner de manifiesto la importancia de estudiar la “historia” de la Lingüística desde el punto de vista relativista, transcrónico y comparativo que nos brinda la Historiografía. En esta línea, insistiremos sobre todo en la necesidad de mirar hacia el pasado para comprender el presente de la ciencia del lenguaje. Y, a la inversa, en la importancia de observar lo que nos precede desde la mirada actual para interpretar la relevancia que han alcanzado determinados planteamientos teóricos. Solo la distancia temporal nos permitirá divisar la evolución de las teorías lingüísticas con sus encabalgamientos, continuidades y rupturas.

·Abstract

During the last twenty years, we have noticed an outstanding increase of the interest in the Historiography of Linguistics discipline. Anthough it exists a vast literature about this topic, researchers don't agree about the aims and methodology of this field of study. The main purpose of our paper is to show the advantages of studying the history of linguistics from this transchronic, comparative and relativistic point of view. We would like to emphasize the need for going back to the past in order to understand the present. And viceversa, we would like to remark the need for using our present point of view to realize the researches that have been done before. Temporal distance gives concessions that let us observe the theories evolution across the time: its enjambements, its continuities and its breakings.
